Draft Surveys
We use standard maritime method to calculate the weight of cargo loaded onto or discharged from a ship by measuring the change in the vessel’s water displacement.
How We Works
Draft Readings: Surveyors read the ship’s draft marks at six standard points on the hull (forward, midship, and aft on both port and starboard sides).
Deductible Weights: They measure all non-cargo liquids on board, including ballast water, fuel oil, diesel, and fresh water.
Water Density: A water sample is taken to determine the density of the dock or sea water.
Calculations: Initial and final water displacements are computed using the ship’s hydrostatic tables, factoring in corrections for trim, list, and hull deformation.
